

You can now get college credit for courses at Pocahontas Woods,
and even work on a degree in Fine Woodworking, through our new partnership
with New
River
Community and Technical College. If you like, you can sign up for individual
courses, or pursue one of three formal programs. Students can fulfill the
general studies requirements either at the Greenbrier Valley campus of New
River or through online classes.
Job Skills Set Certificate - a 20 credit hour program which is entirely made
up of woodworking classes given at Pocahontas Woods. You don't get a degree,
but you can put it on your resume when you apply for a job.
One Year Collegiate Certificate - a 30 credit hour program in which credits
are all transferable to a degree program - in effect, the first year of college.
It is made up of 18 credit hours of woodworking classes and 12 hours of general
studies.
Associate of Applied Science Degree - A two year, 61 credit hour
program leading to a two-year college degree. 40 credit hours of woodworking
classes
and 21
hours of general studies make up the program.
In all, eleven college courses in Fine Woodworking will be offered at our Marlinton shop over a two year period.
